Patson Daka Nets Late Goal for Zambia Against Mali in Afcon.

Zambia's striker heads home late

The Leicester City forward brought to a close a lengthy goal dry spell for Zambia with his dramatic header in Casablanca.

Patson Daka was the the hero for Chipolopolo as his injury-time header clinched a nail-biting 1-1 share of the points against Mali at the Afcon 2025 in Casablanca.

Eagles Seize First-Half Control

Lassine Sinayoko had given his side the lead shortly after the hour mark in the Group A fixture at the Stade Mohammed V, lashing home from point-blank range after his first effort from a corner kick had been parried.

The Eagles controlled the tempo and had an opportunity to take the lead in the final moments of the opening period after Nene Dorgeles was fouled in the penalty area by Zambian defender Matthews Banda.

El Bilal Toure stepped up for the Eagles but his well-hit shot was expertly kept out by Zambia goalkeeper Willard Mwanza.

The Striker's Dramatic Intervention

Daka eventually secured a point for the former champions, who were largely dominated by the physical dominance of their opponents until the defender's lofted cross was powered home by the striker.

Group A Standings

This draw means both sides a couple of points behind tournament hosts the Atlas Lions in the group standings after Morocco won their first match 2-0 against Comoros at the weekend.

Zambia will stay in the city to play their next game against Comoros on Friday, while The Eagles journey to Rabat for a crunch showdown against Morocco.
