The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games series film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. Industry whispers indicate their roles will take the form of a future-set scene, as the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Delving Into the Prequel
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several prominent actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
Regarding the shoot:
